One-third of U.S. workers lack digital skills, with 13 percent having no digital skills and 18 percent having, at best, limited digital skills, noted the report by the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation, a science and technology institute.In essence, the ITIF reported, one in six working-age Americans are unable to use email, web search, or other basic online tools.

The U.S. workforce is becoming less digitally-savvy compared to those of other nations, with American employees broadly lagging in skills like basic computer literacy and using messaging tools like email––critical knowledge in the modern global digital economy. According to data compiled within a report from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, roughly 31 percent of employees in the U.S. workforce have either no or limited digital skills.

In keeping with the increasing importance of data in the global economy, governments have become more given to putting restrictions on the flow of data across their borders. According to a new report from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, there’s has been a marked increase in the number of countries putting up regulatory barriers to keep data from moving freely, from 35 in 2017 to 62 today.

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), which is a think tank for science and technology policy, has released a statement from the director of its Center for Clean Energy Innovation, David Hart. Hart noted that there is a lot of work to be done to create the solutions that will move the world into net-zero emissions, but pointed out that many major investments in the bill will accelerate clean energy and climate innovation.
