ITIF Welcomes Issa’s Return as Honorary Co-Chair Alongside DelBene, Coons, and Young

February 17, 2022

WASHINGTON—The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, today announced that Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) will rejoin ITIF as an honorary co-chair alongside Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA) and Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Todd Young (R-IN). Rep. Issa, who previously served as an ITIF honorary co-chair from 2009 to 2019, replaces former Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN).

“We are pleased to welcome back Congressman Issa as an honorary co-chair at ITIF,” said ITIF President Robert D. Atkinson. “Congressman Issa has championed technology and innovation issues on a bipartisan basis throughout his career in Congress—including in partnership with fellow ITIF honorary co-chair Suzan DelBene, with whom he established the Internet of Things Caucus in 2015.”

First elected to Congress in 2000, Rep. Issa serves on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees. In the private sector, Issa previously founded Directed Electronics, the Vista, CA-based automobile security systems manufacturer. He also has served as chairman of the Consumer Electronics Association, a member of the board of governors of the Electronics Industry Association, and as director of the San Diego Economic Development Association and the Greater San Diego County Chamber of Commerce.

“Now more than ever, technology and innovation are key drivers of every sector in the country—and that pace will only accelerate,” said Rep. Issa. “I look forward to serving once again as honorary co-chair of ITIF and benefitting from the high-quality information, analysis, and recommendations that the organization is exceptionally qualified to offer.”
